209 Cadet Shortlisted for Prestigious Award

DoWExciting news! Congratulations to Cdt Sgt Grace McDonald who has been shortlisted from thousands of nominations from the ATC, ACF, SCC and CCF to the final 49 candidates for this year’s Duke of Westminster’s Award.

This award rewards those cadets who have enrolled for/completed BTEC qualifications through CVQO (Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation), from all cadet forces in the UK.

The 49 candidates will now complete a submission highlighting what they believe makes them stand out as exceptional candidates and a potential overall winner of the Award. This could be through community involvement, sporting achievement, volunteering, charity / care work, academic achievement or overcoming a personal challenge. From here 24 regional finalists will then be chosen and notified on Friday 6 February. These 24 will then attend a four-day selection event at Outposts Adventure Specialists in Somerset to determine which nine will be rewarded with an exciting two week educational expedition to South Africa in July.

The nine national finalists and their families will also attend the prestigious Awards lunch in London on 30 June, where the overall winner will be announced.

May we wish Cadet Sergeant McDonald the best of luck through this next stage!
